hello,
i am trying to fix this dvd which contains 11 episodes of a TV series, but each episode is in a different VTS, each with one .vob file. (eg. episode 1 is in VTS_01_1.vob, episode 2 is in VTS_02_1.vob, episode 11 is in VTS_11_1.vob). the original has one menu that can choose each episode. i used vobedit to demux every episode, then join them all into one titleset (all episodes are now in VTS_01_1.vob thru VTS_01_4.vob). i then used ifoedit to create new ifos and VIDEO_TS files for this new set of vobs. my question is, how do i get that menu to point to the episodes in their new location? thanks for your assistance.

just wondering why you have done this? :)

and menuedit or dvdremake could edit the buttons, but they do cost money. (dvdremake would probably be better for the job)

my friend bought this dvd on ebay. the episodes were taped off of television and compiled on a dvd. unfortunately, it will not play in their dvd player, so i offered to fix it. that's not illegal, is it? it plays in about half of the dvd players it has been tried in, and i think this is due to its unorthodox structure. incidentally, i tried reauthoring it in ifoedit without the menus, and for some reason it will only play the first episode. any ideas?

generally the problem you have will be caused by the media, try burning it on to brand another disc (preferably a ritek orverb, try to avoid the cheap ones). another reason is it could not like reading burnt discs, or maybe have a problem with +r or -r (not too sure about this though).

the structure doesn't sound unorthodox to me, but maybe a command in the DVD is causing a problem. Can u explain how u tried to reauthor it in ifo edit? if u just removed the menu and kept VTS_01 to VTS_11 then that would explain why only the first episode plays. One way to get around this is set an end command in ifo edit for each episode to jump to the next title on the DVD. otherwise u would need to merge all episodes into 1 VTS and u would then have to use menuedit/dvdremake to keep original menus as u were trying in the first place, or just live without them.
