View Full Version : AGK ignores first credits-stripped VOB ?

Hi.

Using AGK 1.30b I've tried to encode a PGC of the following VOBs:

VTS_02_1.vob 1,024,992 KB
VTS_02_2.vob 1,048,440 KB
VTS_02_3.vts 1,048,358 KB
VTS_02_4.vob 1,048,280 KB
VTS_02_5.vob 1,048,266 KB
VTS_02_6.vob 1,048,526 KB
VTS_02_7.vob 667,402 KB

Here's Where I've deviated from prescribed/normal procedures:

1. I've used DVDDecrypter version 3.2.1.0 instead of the latest 3.2.2.0.

2. I've excised initial 38 seconds of .vob footage (around 20 MB) from the beginning of the first .vob, and 70 seconds (around 40 MB) from the end-credits at the end of the last one, with the help of chopper XP (a simple tool like the VCDCutter, for snipping vobs without any loss of quality).

The result

1. I got a 788 MB .avi (instead of the custom target 790) - and I have until this last job found AGK to be uncannily accurate in this.

2. The finished .avi started from the second .vob. The first .vob was completely ignored.

3. The last .vob, however, was duly included.

AutoGK Official FAQ says:

6.6 How can I select only subset of input vobs? (i.e. remove credits for instance)
- There is no direct way of doing that but this can be done:
1) start the job
2) when DVD2AVI launched restore it from taskbar and hit Esc
3) select subset you need
4) "save as" and overwrite partially created D2V file
5) encoding will proceed as usual

This FAQ point does not cover the present case of snipped vobs. The FAQ talks about range-selection via the DVD2AVI working on the original vobfiles.

The questions

1. I feel that snipping was the culprit, and snipping from the beginning of the first .vob isn't supported (I can't imagine why, though) although AGK doesn't seem to mind if footage from the end of the last file is cut.

2. I haven't tried snipping from the middle .vobs, or from the middle of a VOB and joining the rest, but I'm curious.

3. Was the snipping tool (chopperXP) the culprit? If it is, what is recommended?

2. Otherwise, is there anything I should have done after snipping the .vobs?

3. Am I allowed to snip at all?

4. Do I post the logfile for you all to see?

Regards.

Honestly I have no idea. DGMPGDec is dealing with the vobs AutoGK just takes whatever was provided to it. I suspect that Chopper XP is a culpit and you need to post in DVD2AVI forum regarding that. But before you do so, make sure you make manual tests with DGIndex (i.e. create d2v files manually and check how many frames is in the correct and wrong d2v).
