Hi!

Well, All anime that I rip meet the same problem,
blocky in fast motion.
The original size is 720 X 576
Picture below I resize to 640 X 512
original (http://home.pchome.com.tw/myhome/masakisl/snapshot20040608071732.jpg)

I crop and resize to 640 X 368 when rip
after ripped (http://home.pchome.com.tw/myhome/masakisl/snapshot20040608082955.jpg)

The movie is:
pal region4, 25fps, duration 00:01:31
I use Gknot 28.8,codec Xvid 1.0 final(from Koepi site)
Result:
Size: 15.5MB
Audio: mp3 120kbps
Here is my setting:

Profile
LV :AS@L5
Quantization type: MPEG-Custom (hvs-best)
GMC: on
B-VOPs: on
MAX consecutive BOVPs: 2
Quantizer ratio: 1.50
Quantiser offset: 1.00
Packed bitstream : off
Closd GOV : on

LEVEL
All default
Aspect Ratio
All default

MOtion search precition: 6
VHQ mode: 1
use chroma motion: on
Frame drop ratio:0
Max I-frame interval:300

Quantization : 2,31,2,31,2,31

0.226bits/pixel*flame ,58.5%of0.387 comptest

It shouldn't come out "58.5%of0.387 comptest" since i am using Gknot 28.8...

So, should i change my setting?

Other questions:
Actualy i set filesize to 16MB,but it come out with 15.5MB
When i rip a 50min movie and set to 520MB,it become 470MB:eek:
Will undersize decress quality?
Can anyone told me how to use mftoon?Should i make a .avs file?
What is the difference between Gknot and Gknot+Virtualdud?

Hope you can understand what i am talking...
I am bad in english

well the comp test doesn't sound really bad, actually at least destined for acceptable quality! to narrow down the problem, please try the two following things:
a) reduce your resolution to 5xx (xx being smaller than 50) - then encode using the same settings!
b) do a seperate encode using fixed quant 2 and take a look at the results!

Actualy i set filesize to 16MB,but it come out with 15.5MB
i doubt you'll ever be able to really predict file sizes of your encodes any closer than 500k

When i rip a 50min movie and set to 520MB,it become 470MB:eek:
this has another reason: for the settings used (quant matrix, quant type, etc) you obviously maxed out the codecs quality! to find out more about that, please do a forum search on 'undersized encodes' or undersized files!

Will undersize decress quality?
No...

yes, you will have to create your avs file manually, or at least edit the avs file created by gknot. then you'll have to encode manually in vdubmod! for more information visit the mftoon thread in the avisynth usage forum!

What is the difference between Gknot and Gknot+Virtualdud?
normal gknot uses virtualdubmod!

Possible reasons: Too much denoising. See here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?threadid=76971). If you haven't denoised, try sharpening the picture. On the other hand, the original looks bad already.

Activate chroma motion estimation. Use the cartoon/anime matrix or H.263 for anime. Using VHQ=4 and cartoon-mode is also a good idea. Finally, getting the latest XviD (1.01) and using trellis.

Edit: Your screenshots indicate that you haven't cropped the black bars entirely, bad idea - and makes GMC useless.

Sorry for late reply

Thanks for you suggestion,it is batter now :)

But what do you mean "cropped the black bars entirely"?
All bottom black bar?
It is also part of the movie so i didn't crop it.
When I use auto-crop in GKnot it crop half of the black bar
And the "2002 satelight...." become half too
Then I decress the crop area...

The border between the black bar and the picture isn't easy to compress. Either crop the bars entirely or not at all. Leaving a small black line (like you did with the upper bar) is the worst thing you can do.

GMC describes convolutions of the complete picture, like zooms. As the black bars don't move, reardless whether the movie zooms, pans or rotates, there's no way for GMC to work correctly.
