hi all
this is my first post so be easy on me k thanks
i have a 2.4 ghz intel petium pc 512 ram, running xp
i have recentley been learning about dvd back up avi conversion all that kind of stuff divx etc.
and recently i have been trying to put my old vcr tapes on to dvd so i bought a tv capture card. i recorded my video and tried to put it on dvd using dvd lab (is it any good?) and it had to transcode the audio to 48 khz from 44.5 khz. which was fine and i burnt the dvd using the prog (dvdlab) and when i play it on my stand alone player the audio is all out of sync fromn the picture.
i cant record the video again so what can i do to save the original and get it right.
any thing helpful would do
thanks again

hello and welcome to the forum.

There is actually two ways to transcode audio from 44.1 to 48khz. One is by changing its length and the other by adjusting the frequency and keeping the original length. I suspect that in your case u have followed the 1st approach and not the second.

Pls supply some info on the procedure that u have followed, in order to come up with a solution.

Hello again and thanks for replying

well the prog dvdlab asked to transcode the audio for me so it did it itself so i dont know what it did.
I am really getting in to the dvd authoring side and find that dvd lab is alright to use its user friendley and much cheaper than scenarist. i used to use nero vision express which is so simple to use but took a long time and 7 times out of 10 the audio would be out of sync of the picture. so im opting to do it my self from scratch and from the guts.
whats the best procedure do u think would be best for a guy like me to make my own dvds?

cheers
keep up the good work

u can extract the audio from the avi file and feed it to cooledit, now owned by adobe, and convert it to 48khz with F11 (Edit/Convert sample type). U will get audio with exactly the same duration that hopefully will be in sync, unless ofcourse u r doing something wrong along the process.

Feed dvdlab with video and the new audio. U should be ok.
