i read the thread about compressebility test under linux wich sadly never got any further :(
if we had that we could actually write a script that does quite what autogk does, just under linux and freely configurable for every user.
it would have to rip the dvd (better for the drive and opens up potential for queuing), make a comp-test and a wise resizing decision based on it, then make a two-pass-encode and that would be about it.
is there any way meanwhile to get two audiotracks into an avi under linux? if mplayer can play two streams, mencoder should be able to create a two-stream avi...
so if i could script well enough, i'd already have started. sadly this is not the case, my scripting skills are a bit basic..
