DVD+/-RW Buying recommendations

Hey everyone,

I am looking to purchase a DVD+/-RW for my laptop and I wanted some advice from people with experience with them.

As I said it's for a laptop so it either has to be external all together or internal and I could buy an enclosure for it, it doesn't really matter.

I would like it to have Double Layer burning capabilities even if that's through a firmware upgrade.

Any recommendations?

I don't know about the newest Pioneer models (the 8x and maybe double layer) but the older models (A04, A05, A06) I can only recommend. I have an A06 4x DVD+/- myself and at work we're having a bunch of A05s (and had A04s before). They were/are all great, no flaws at all.

OK, these are not Laptop-drives, but what I wanted to say is that Pioneer in general seems to be pretty good at DVD+/-R/RW drives
