Hi,

After some years into Final Cut Pro, Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects, Cool edit pro, etc... as my main tools for NLE editing and post-production, I'm switching to opensource tools, they're definitely incredible tools out there, and real alternatives to commercial software in some cases :)

So right now that's what I plan to the future:

- Photoshop --> GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/)
- After effects --> Film Gimp (http://filmgimp.sourceforge.net/) (aka CinePaint (http://cinepaint.sourceforge.net/))
- Cool Edit Pro --> Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/)
- Adobe Premiere --> ?¿?

That's the only thing I don't find: an opensource professional NLE (by pro I mean not only DV based NLE).

The only one that I've found is Cinelerra (http://heroinewarrior.com/cinelerra.php3), but it's only for Linux. Maybe in the future I'll switch also to Linux (maybe Gnome desktop), but right now I want to learn the tools and then maybe switch to other OS.

So, anyone knows about an opensource NLE windows software?

Also I'll be glad to hear any comments about the experience you could have with these other opensource tools (cinepaint, gimp, etc...) into NLE :cool:

Thanks a lot.

Regards

Sadly there isn't any decent ones for windows right now.

:(

I hope that a ggod alternative will come up in the future. I've really search on sf.net and osdir.com and gnu.org but there's not a single opensource NLE software for windows. Some projects in sf.net seems to aim that purpose but they didn't release any file.

Anyway, thanks for your reply :)

Wax 2.0 is the successor of beaver and - of course of Wax 1.0.
It might not be open source though...

And it´s a little bit buggy, - at least on my machine...
EDIT - maybe better now since it is updated to 2.0 "c". EDIT END

Thanks for the link. It's this a NLE or a composing 2D/3D software. it's seems to me that it's focused on FX instead of editing. I will anyway give it a try :)

I've just google and found this:
http://www.jahshaka.com

NLE realtime system for Linux/MacOS/Windows. Looks really promising and serious project. I will surely give it a try asap :)

Anyone knows something about this software?

I gave it a try once, but the interface was really clumsy and it was incredibly buggy. After crashing 3 times over about 10 minutes I gave up on it.
