Hi all,I had a couple of TV programs recorded onto a VHS tape, i took it with me when i went to visit a friend, about 100 miles away from my home.

He recorded the VHS tape onto a DVD+R disc using a Phillips DVD recorder (the type that plugs into a TV), and he showed it playing on his TV afterwards LO

I got it home later that same day and it didnt play on my cheap DVD player at home, it didnt play on a better quality DVD player over the road either.

I then bought a Liteon DVD writer (compatible with PLUS and MINUS), the DVD+R couldnt be read by my DVD writer either !!!!!!.

So what can i do now to be able to read this particular DVD+R ????

if it helps at all, although it cannot be read by my DVD writer enough to copy it, using Nero and Disc Info it comes up with the info below, which is double dutch to me, it might make sense to someone, but it shows there is something there, but how can i read it, i was hoping to Copy it across to a DVD minus R !!!

Did your friend remember to close the session?

Sounds like the disc went bad or it was a bad burn. Blanks go bad all the time especially the cheap kind.

Did you try to burn your own DVD+R on your Liteon DVD writer and see if you can read it?

Seems like your friend used Multisession for DVDs. Nero warns that these DVD may not be readable by DVD-ROMs and recorders other then the one that burnt the DVD. There doesn't seem to exist a standard for Multisession yet. If that's true, that should be the reason :(

jeez, that was quick mate, with the DVD writer came a free DVD+R disc, i copied a movie to that ok (just practising LOL) and i could read that OK with the DVD writer :) i shall look forward to giving it to my mate when i next see him.

i wasnt going to bother trying it on my DVD player (plugged into the tv) but i reckon i will try it now

thanks friend, another good clue, i guess that is from the info in my screen dump LOL.

I have a mutisession disc with only one session open and perhaps not closed or whatever, i have a lot to learn as you can see.

happily the multi session thingie must be the reason and/or of course it might be a crap disc anyway ! LOL.

I have succesfullly copied a movie onto a DVD+R disc and it plays perfectly both on my computer and DVD player yippeeee

thanks for your ideas, very valuable
