I have used three diffrent brand of dvd-r and DVD+r and got the same results. Also tried both DVD shrink and DVD XCOPY Platinum with same results. In some dvd players the back up plays fine. In some DVD players the player says CAN NOT read disk. A few friends have had the same luck using the same disks and programs. Are we doing something wrong or am i missing some step?

Any advise of thoughts would be helpful.

Welcome to the forum:

This is a media problem, but I can understand the frustration and confusion, we've all been there. You might be trying to solve too many problems at once, why not concentrate on your own personal burner and standalone compatibility issues before branching out to help your friends? I got dizzy just reading your list. :)

Use the links below, you'll receive feedback on your burner and standalone, respectively, and what media seems to work well in each. When all else fails, lean on the search button.

You're quite welcome! As you become more familiar with the forum you'll find that this is a fairly common problem.

The best 'thank you' of all will come when you develop your own little bag of tricks and keep coming back to Doom9 to share them with us and help others that are having hard times; it's what makes this great forum stand head and shoulders above the rest. :) Please do so!
