Help, Windows XP bugs me...

I have installed some new HW (HD & RAM) the last day...

Then I installed WinXP on the new HD and moved all personal data to it (from the old HD) !!!

After this I have formatted the old HD n' booted from the fresh installed OS...

But while WinXP activation it tells me that the product key was used to often !!!

Really, I had used this key only for the first installation (already deleted) 6 moths ago... :confused:

What can I do now ???

Phone up M$ on their provided number for your country and they'll talk you through the re-activation process.

It seems like you changed too many things at the same time... I guess you're using XP Home?

Yes... So be quick with your pen or record your conversation!

This is one of the major 'pissers' of XP Home. Especially when you upgrade two or more components (one of them being your hard drive).

It's a bit weird because it's not like you can have a copy of WinXP O/S on a hard drive and move it to another PC anyway!

Got a coupla questions concerning raid and partitions.

Ordered 4 baby raptors (still in transit), to run in raid 0+1 (coward about lost or corrupt data), using onbard raid controlller. I will only see a single 72GB drive right? How does boot partition work? May sound silly but never used partitions, just added HD's. Partitions are applied across the entire array aren't they?

Ok, so I have a lot of questions about implementation, but haven't come across any great resources to explain how's and why's. Kinda hoping some video guru has gone through this, and has some good info.

PS. Yes I do realize that all 4 SATA drives in raid 0 would be fastest data rate transfer method, still a coward. Putting 120GB IDE on separate channel for moving video info, and ghost of array. Still need all the info I can get, just learning this stuff.

shuld get yourself a copy of bcwipe and wipe your drive next time with bcwipepd.. then use xp install to format your drive.
