1) what is the best way to backup a commercial DVD that is region 1, 2, 3
is it via decrpytor ( any free download)
2) do I have to combine it with SHrink ?? or can it survive just with Shrink for my purpose .
3) or do I need a PERFECT DVD Movie backup software to do this
4) can anybody enlighten how to crach the code for LG 4082 so that it can perpetually play region 1,2,3 ( not limited to 5 times )

1) A good way to backup a DVD would have to be the Big 3 method, which uses CCE as an encoder to reduce filesize. This is also dependent on the file size. If the dvd you are trying to backup is only a single layer (meaning its around 4.7 GB) then you can just use DVD Decryptor and read->create ISO, then after that chose write->ISO and burn the DVD. DVD Decryptor will also remove any region restrictions on the dvd your are decrypting.
2) Shrink is also a good program to make a dual-layer dvd fit onto a standard Dvd-r disk. gain it depends on the size of the DVD you are backing up. I *think* a good way to use dvd shrink or any other dvd backup program is to use dvd decryptor to write an ISO of the dvd and then use Daemon Tools to mount the ISO to a "virtual drive". Then in Shrink just browse to the VIDEO_TS folder on the drive and start. A
3) The Big 3 method will give you better quality than DVD Shrink in all cases, all though sometimes you cannot tell the difference with your eyes between the two (again dependent on the file size, the bigger the dvd size the better the Big 3 method will look as compared to DVD Shrink).
4) I don't know too much about that drive but you could search on google to make that drive "region free" or look to this forum maybe for some help: http://forum.rpc1.org/ .

" dvd backup program is to use dvd decryptor to write an ISO of the dvd and then use Daemon Tools to mount the ISO to a "virtual drive"
can you elaborate where to find this function " use Daemon Tools to mount the ISO to a "virtual drive" " & how to do it

Hi. First you will have to download it from here:
http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/portal/portal.php
then install it. Once it is installed you should see it in your system tray where you can right click on the icon, go to Virtual CD/DVD Rom and select Device 0 and then mount image. It will then take you to a browser where you can browse to where DVD Decryptor stored the decrypted DVD with a .iso extension. You can then use the "mounted" dvd like a real cd/dvd-rom drive, and it will show up as such in windows explorer. /

Here are some links you may find helpful:
Doom9's DVDShrink Guide (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/dvdshrink31-main.htm)
Daemon Tools Help (http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/portal/daemonhelp.php)
ddlooping's DVDShrink Guides (http://www.dvdshrink.info/guides.php)
As Angelus has suggested, you'll get a superior quality rip with the Big Three (and as always, "superior" is in the eye of the beholder), but if it's a bit much to tackle at first, try Shrink, or DVD Rebuilder. Happy ripping!

There is really no need to install daemon tools if you want to use dvdshrink - just use file -> open disc image and open your iso file.
About cce: you can download a trial, but it will burn a logo into your encoded video.
Everything else is mentioned in the guides ammck55 posted.

Tks all
Mine is a brand new DVD writer .. LG 4082 .
I confirm that can we use SHRINK to watch & BACK UP all regions of DVD movie without hitting the 5 times limit that drive imposes .
a) I do not have to resort to flash the drive or use softwares DVD Region-Free Lite 3.68 or DVD Region Killer 2.5.0.2
2) Great to know that can just start off with shrink to do a back up copies of commericial DVD movies ( all regions) ....without having to get any software at the moment
a ) if you know of a great download site for latest 3.17 version apart from
Download DVD Shrink 3.1.7 - A FREE software to backup DVD disks !
let me know ..
