Having read this article at cdfreaks (http://www.cdfreaks.com/news/9833), I was wondering if that's really new?

Yes, I'm having a problem trying to copy "House of sand and Fog".
I can't do the ripping on this one. I tried using DVDshrink, DDV decrypter (EAcessViolation), Vstrip etc.
All of them gave some kind of error.
Any workaround?

Might try using DVDShrink 2.3, I had no problem with it. Though always some sort of problems with the later Shrink programs, always some kind of error, lol

That might be a disc with a corrupt IFO file.
The next ver of DVD Decrypter should be ok (3.2.3.0)

I don't think it's a corrupt IFO file. The error is similar to the one discussed in that thread about the new copy protection scheme.
Other movies are appearing with that kind of anti-copy system. DVDShrink hangs in a ring of bad data while analizing the movie.
