Vob in wrong order

I just ripped a DVD with DVD Decrypter in File mode. For some reason the first 15 minutes of the VTS_01_1 VOB file is a section from the later part of the DVD. If you play the individual VTS_01_1 file from the hard disc you get this later part of the film, however if you play the actual DVD the film starts at the begining.

Is this something that has been done to make ripping DVD's more difficult or have I done something wrong?

This is just part and parcel of the way DVD works. Titles can be in any order inside the files. There is no requirement that the first title in the first title set has to be the main title - often it is not. In fact, often the main title isn't even in the first title set.
