Just trying to encode some clips on dual-CPU Xeon 2.8GHz / 1024MB RAM machine and CCE-SP is taking only 40-55% of CPU time. Is it usual behavior or is there something wrong? I'm gettin speed of only 0.9-1.1 on this machine.
Looks like CCE-SP trial is single-threaded app with no support for SMP. Does the full version supports more than one CPU?
Are you using version 2.66+ and are you frameserving via avisynth? Avisynth is not multithreaded and thus will bottleneck you. If you want full speed you can encode it to HuffYUV and then CCE from there.

I'm encoding directly from AVI encoded with Huffyuv and wonder why CCE is not using both CPUs. We have ordered full version few days ago, so I hope it is working better...

Are you saying that CCE needs 2.66+ to support SMP? If so this is my problem.

MLS is correct
@Vlcek - interesting how your system is a dual-CPU Xeon 2.8GHz and youre only getting 0.9-1.1 speeds...im on a PIV 2.8Ghz system w/1gig of ram and am get around 2~2.5 on interlaced and a little over 3X on progressive materials using CCE 2.67.00.27. what version of CCE are you using?

Interesting coincidence because *I* also have dual Xeon 3.2ghz, and i'm only getting 3.2 speed in CCE. I want more speed but it's only using 30-40% total processor power.
Using CCE 2.5 though, should I be using 2.66+ to enable SMP?

ctrl-alt-del provides an inaccurate representation of the cpu usage. When it says 50% usage on 1 cpu, it does not mean 50% of the cpu is being used. It could be more, or it could be less. I can get you information regarding this if you are interested, but it's pretty complicated. Nutshell: the cpu graph is inaccurate on dual cpu.

Yeah but when I encode i'm only using 36% of my total CPU's. What's going on?
Again, I ask do you need CCE2.66+ to get SMP?
