I am running XP pro with 512 ram. My Athlon CPU is running at 1050 Gig. I originally had no problems backing up dvd-5s with Decrypter and a sony burner. I am now using a 8x Lite On burner. The problem is I can burn the first part of the movie with shrink 3.17 or decrypter without problem, but the copy starts to freeze and hang up about half way through the disk. Normally it will freeze completely about 5 minutes from the end of the movie. If the dvd-9 movie is less than 2 hours long I just back up the movie as a dvd-5. I tried to backup Olkahoma on two disks. The first disk was ok but the second froze about 5 minutes from the end. The lite on burner seems to keep increasing it copy rate up to 11x which does not prevent watching the movie on the hard drive, but I am wondering if the burner is also increasing it burn rate to a speed that causes the freezing problems. Can anyone give any info that would cure my problem without replacing the burner?

have you checked media/burner compatibility at www.dvdrhelp.com ??

apart from that, try forcing the burner to burn at 2x (or even 1x) and see if it still happens!

Freezing backups at the end of the play, such as yours, is usual a syptom of bad quality media. Change the disks u r using to a brand with better quality and check if this problem persists.
