ripping problem

There's this one DVD that I just can't seem to decode properly to my computer.

DVD Decrypter decodes the vob files to my hard disk no problem, the problem is that the AC3 file that I decode (either using DVD Decrypter, or extracting from the vobs using DVD2AVI) is corrupt. As well as the video. When I first go to decrypt using DVD Decrypter, the program comes up and tells me that it has RCE Protection, in which case, I choose region USA, Canada and click okay.

The audio contains all these wierd pops, clicks, and strange noises.

When I go to decode the AC3 to wav, using HeadAC3he, it says: "Bad Syncword at frame X(I forgot what frame it was)! The AC3 stream is probably corrupt."

I browse to that frame of the AC3 in windows media player, and I can hear it cut out, and some of the audio repeats it itself if I continue to listen, like he would say something, but one of the words got cut in half and then said again, etc.

However, when I play the DVD in my standalone DVD player, there are no problems where HeadAC3he suspects that it is corrupt. It plays very smoothly and just fine. Also the dvd plays fine on the dvd player software on my computer.

Any ideas?

Clean the disc and try again.

Use another drive to read it if you have one.

the disk is not dirty at all!
infact, I have tried two different copies of it
and it messes up in the same place when I rip either of them

i think i know the problem, is it a mult-angle dvd?; well that's all i can say about it.


now, listen to the story i'm about to tell, which is probably a waste of your time:


a while back, i rip an anime dvd (can't recall the name), it was a multi-angle dvd, i uses dvd decypter to extract the angle i wanted, everyting went peferectly, i could watch & encode the *.vob without a problem, until i extract the *.ac3, somehow the audio reverted back to it's multi-angle form (jumping back & forth)

could the problem be that it is a dual layered disk? and possible my dvd player has a small problem with that?

i don't understand!
this is the only DVD I've ever seen in which case VTS_01_3.VOB is around 250mb, while VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB, VTS_01_4.VOB, and VTS_01_5.VOB are all 1,048,574KB, and then the last vob is under 1gb which is normal for the last vob

but why on earth would vob 3 be ~250mb? doesn't make a whole lot of sense

also, I've noticed that after I encode this movie (despite the errors and corruption) I can watch it and the audio will not sync up at all because of the corruption, and at many places, I can see the video focus in and out, or stop halfway in a scene and repeat frames previously already shown, makes no sense. It does this if I view the vobs after decrypted to my hard drive as well, so I'm not doing anything wrong in the xvid encoding process.
