When i try to play a matroska with a RV10 classic (not Elysean)
it's slow down very often with somes frames dropped on action (very few but it's very annoying).

Is there a solution to play it ? Maybe with less filters ?
I hear about the last ffdshow who can read RV10, is it a solution ?

Thanks in advance

In ffdshow RV10 is not Real Video 10, that would if I recall correctly would be RV40. Or you actually mean RV10 as in RealVideo 1 or whatever it is?

RealVideo 10 FOURCC is RV40. R.V. 10 cannot be decoded by ffdshow. You should upgrade :)

Ah...
so, there's no solution to speed up the decoding (maybe with less fitering) ? :(

What is the real clock speed of an Athlon 900? For RealVideo, that is what counts. You need something like an 800-850 MHz system to play back 640x480 RV9 and RV10 without any problems. Also be aware that when you use MPC / realmediasplitter, there is no CPU scalability, and therefore no graceful degradation when your system is not quite fast enough. With RealPlayer 10, the decoder is able to throttle back a couple of decoder features, and it would perhaps have been able to play your clip without dropping any frames, and instead just some quality degradation in certain frames instead. However, if you have RV10 inside Matroska, RealPlayer can not play it back.. So I guess there is not much that can be done. Well, try to change the video renderer in MPC to the Overlay Mixer. On my system I have noticed that's slightly faster.

Thanks for your reply,
It's a matroska, so i can't use real player.

with overlay, i get (for the first 40secs of the movie) 22frames instead 68.

Also, if i deactive subtitles, i drop to 12 frames lost.

The CPU is an athlon 900 (with 512MB of ram)

EDIT : i just overcklocked the graphic card (geforce2MX) from
175/166 (GPU/RAM) ro 210/200 :

There's no more dropped frames ! :) (with overlay and default render)
There's still somes slow down but it's realy greater.

Thanks again, my system is a little bit more optimised for RV now.
I did't know that GPU speed was so important for videos.

PS : there not any registry tips for RV ?
