ESS Hardware Box

Hi All,
I have been working on a firmware update for the ESS Vibratto Chip, and have finally come up with a successful modification.

I can now play xvids without checking the ESS box in the autogk setup.

Can anyone shed some light on exactly what that ESS box changes? I would need some further info for further testing...

I believe instead of using custom quantization matrices like HVS Better/Best it uses the standards h263 and mpeg.

i read on another board that the new firmware for the Tevion DVD-4000 player (using the ess chip) will support the .mp4 container. do you have something to do with it?

bond, i dont. Actually I am more on the hardware side of things. Do you have a test file I could demo with the new firmware? If so please do PM me so we can hook up, I would appreciate the help
