how to capture VHS & Firewire camcorder into Notebook

Currently I figure that to capture video From Firewire port of DV camera into notebook , I can use firewire cable , put it in the notebook Card type 2 adpater (with firewire input _


2) HOw do you capture VCR /VHS stuff into notebook ..I do not think there is a card adpater that has composite input ??

You want to convert composite (or equivilant) into DV. It is an entirely different format to DVD.

Many boxes can do this, the ADVC100 by Cannopus is one, and is a good device (from personal experience).

You could input your vcr/vhs audio & video into your dv camera, then transfer the dv (via firewire) into the notebook (I use Power Director SE for this) as a dv compliant .avi video file. This will need a bit of hdd space approx 13Gb/hour. Encode/edit with say tmpgenc to mpeg2, author with tmpgenc dvd author, burn with Nero.
