hi folks,
i had uses the dust-filter-package for a long time, but now it doesn't work anymore. i don't know why, but i had installed serveral things (DVD2SVCD, GKnot-Update,... ?)
vdubmod and mpc crash when i try to open an avisynth-script with a dust-call with an "invalid page" windows error-message.
a simple example script, that doesn't work:
---
LoadPlugin("C:\Programme\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\MPEG2Dec3.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\Programme\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\Decomb510.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\Programme\AviSynth 2.5\LoadPluginEx2.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\Programme\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\DustV5.dll")
MPEG2Source("ma.d2v",cpu=4,iDCT=7,iPP=true)
FieldDeinterlace(full=false,threshold=8,dthreshold =3,blend=true,map=false)
FaeryDust(5)
crop(14,110,696,256).BicubicResize(752,352,0,0.6)
---
Any ideas ??
greetings, Heini011
quick questions...
input colorspace is rgb or yuy2? (not yv12...)
mod 4/2 resolution?

yes, thats it!
dust doesn't work with yv12... ;-)
thanks very much...

Just curious where did you get Dust v5?
is that the same as Dust for avisynth 2.08 but converted to 2.5x?
I have searched google in hopes to find Dust v5 but no luck so far.
I would love to get Dust v5 from you if possible.
Thanks!

Yup. I think you know where to get that.
In order to use it in AviSynth v2.5 you should read the YV12 faq Q14 (or the AviSynth Q&A).

:) I should have read the FAQ again, first time my head was spinning and hurt so I missed a few things like FAQ #14!
Thanks!

dust() especially faerydust() is a brilliant filter!!
Can someone please port it from avisynth 2.0 to 2.5? This would be great! It wouldn't be just for convenience (no loadpluginex), but mainly because of a speed improvement. (dust is very slow). I hope it can also be modified to support yv12!
Greetings,
Malcolm

Nope. The author is gone, and the plugin is closed source :(

Malcom,
if you're thinking what I think that you're thinking,
and you think you can do it,
then I'd think you should think about doing it.
But do you think it's easy? I don't think so!
In fact, I think no-one is (seriously) thinking about doing it ...
Just a thought, though ;)

That was more than enough ... I think I'll stop with thinking for today ;-)

I don't know what you mean. Please explain. Thank you.

Didée,
i think that you're exactly thinking what i'm thinking! But i'm not (seriously) thinking about doing it myself. :)
Although i think that others are able to do it. At least... they should think about doing it! :) :)
Greetings,
Malcolm

Ha ha. Wait until you ever need my help.
If you're thinking of patching the init call from 1 to 2 in the executable, that's possible. But since you refuse to explain yourself I can't help you.

DG,
what - today not so good in reading minds? Well, then
read between the lines - eventually your sight onto my posted nonsense will change by a notch, so that you'll se the original intention of Malcom.
[edit] Oops, took me so long to build that silly sentence that I didn't see your second response.
Now, a simple patch won't lead very far. I feel somewhat comfortable with using LoadPluginEx.
And getting Dust to work with YV12 is something that can't simply be patched in. This needs a bigger re-writing of the code, I think ... and unless Steady happens to appear again, that would require the mentioned R.E.'ing.
Assumingly, it'd be much better to jump onto Manao's MV-Tools train, and help developping there.

@Neuron2,
 i hope you're talking to Didée and not me ;)
i was waiting myself for any response. (just for fun)
I really have no idea what to do to get dustv5 to avisynth2.5. But i'd really like to see yv12 and some speed improvement, as it's one of the best (and slowest :)) denoisers available! it's just sad, that this things isn't supported/developed anymore!

I don't understand all this silliness. There's no law against reverse engineering something. Why can't you guys just speak directly?
Malcolm

because it's more fun! :)

i noticed on some sources, pixiedust(2) or higher will introduce blocks.
the filtering does look nice however.
might there be an alternate without the blocking effects?

Aahhh... Reverse Engineering. That department of geekdom where people refer to Windows PE's as being "just like big puzzles, really fun".
Anyways, it's not that fun disassembling something that has any memory management "problems" (IMHO).
I have 11 blocks of data found that lack a direct address relative to a known program procedure (meaning: I can not process, maybe someone else can).
Oh well, maybe I just don't have the skills for this one, or maybe I should update my tools (yes, that includes my faulty memory). I tried, but I'm stuck.
/me hops onto Manao's MV-Tools train
