[Need help] 120 fps -> 23.976 fps

So i have a 120 fps anime (dvd) raw. I want to reduce the framerate to 23.976, so i searched for like 3 hrs and tried all kinds of things...
Some managed to play the video nice, but the audio was out of sync (either too fast or to slow).
Now my (obvious) question is, how can i make my video play smooth at 23.976 fps and still keep my audio in-sync, (i tried using besweet, didn't help).
Any help or tips are much appreciated ^_^;

Hi, and welcome to the forum-

Decimate(2).Decimate(2).Decimate(5). There's 24fps with the audio still in synch. Or SmartDecimate(24,240) (although I don't know how good of a job it'll do with it). But one reason for making it 120fps in the first place is that it may contain a mix of 24fps and 30fps material, so what was originally 30fps won't play so smoothly. But you didn't ask for help with that.

I don't know what's so special about 23.976fps. But if you then go and add AssumeFPS(23.976) to your script, you'll get 23.976fps with the audio out of synch.

To get it back in synch, set up BeSweet however you like, and then check the box to Change Framerate from 24000 to 23976.

But maybe you should be a little bit more specific about what you've tried so far. Like, post your working .avs.

what i tried so far is


selecteven().selectevery(2,0)

selecteven().decimate(2)

selectevery(5,0)

each line being a new try. although these give 29.97 fps, it doesn't matter much wether i get 23.976 or 29.97 at the moment.

I'v fooled around abit with Multidecimate and Smartdecimate, i tried using Besweet to set back the fps on the mp3, but it just crashes (maybe because i set it to go from 120 -> 23.97 fps).

And i just tried

Decimate(2).Decimate(2).Decimate(5)

but that gives choppy video

Also, trying

SmartDecimate(24,240)

makes the video play really fast for some reason plus audio desync.

Hi-

Your first 2 give 30fps (or 29.97fps if the original was 119.880fps) and the audio is still in synch. The 3rd gives 24fps (or 23.976fps if the original was 119.880fps) with the audio still in synch.

maybe because i set it to go from 120 -> 23.97 fps

hmm I tried all the methodes suggested in those thread and they all caused my audio to be out of sync. I talked to some other encoders about this on irc, they say my raw might be fubar...

I guess i'll wait till i get the vobs on monday
