View Full Version : I even didn't even find anything on Google
Probably a common question, but I didn't see any answers.
I am tring to automate TV recording so I can get to watch more quality TV.
I am a linux newbie, so I use windows.
I am at the point that I use:
1. iuVCR to scheduale a recording to MJPEG.
2. Then I ran four filters on the recorded file , as well as remove the commercials.
3. Then I encode to xvid in two pass. during the 2nd pass audio in converted to mp3.
SO how can I automate it? well except cutting the commercials?
So I may get home and have filtered xvid shows?
I know that showshifter has an offline post proccessing option , any other software to do what I am asking for?

There are macro programs out there that might do the job. You will need to test them because some can't pass on commands to the next program. Also you want one that can record both mouse and key strokes. Its too bad that Microsoft could never get record to work when introduced with Windows 3.11 but what's new?

Is Macro the ONLY opition?

No, it isn't. :)
EDIT: that said, I can't help you with the recording from TV side of your problem, but only with automating VirtualDub...
I wish I had enogth programing skills to implement this into VirtualDub.
Get VirtualDubMod from http://sourceforge.net/projects/virtualdubmod - it contains a pretty good helpfile explaining VirtualDub's script language and how to start scripts from the command line.
The only problem might be to configure XviD via SetCompData automatically, but you can leave it out and adjust XviD's registry settings before starting a VirtualDub script.
The easiest way to get a script might be just setting up your filters and other settings in VDub and using "Save processing settings..." to get a script you can base your edits off of.
Then again, why not use AviSynth for filtering if you're gonna script anyways and use something like AVS2AVI (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=71493) for compression?

I think the question he's asking is can Virtualdub scripting tie into his iuVCR program. He wants it completly automated from capture, filtering, and compression. What about him switching to Virtualdub-VCR?
I took a look at his program (inVCR) and it does allow for third party tie-ins. If all fails, look at this site below.
