Been using mpclassic for quite a while, never had trouble before.
Since a few weeks now, whenever I come accross "mplayerc.exe" in windows explorer my systems hangs for about 30sec. Same when i want to "open file with..." and scroll down the different programs, as soon as mplayerc appears (next to mplayer and mplayer2) the system hangs for about 30sec.
Opening and playing anything in mplayerc takes about 2 - 5 min. to load! (and sometimes crashes explorer)
Tried reinstalling older versions, deleting gabest settings in registry, reinstalling SBlive-sound-drivers, codec-packs, etc... Nothing worked so-far.
Oh, and by the way, when i come across ffdshow.exe codec-installer system hangs for about 15sec as well.
Note: I've played around with different p2p programs recently but removed them all from my system...

Any suggestions before i resort to format c:...?

(all works fine on win2k/duall boot...)

PIII-733, 386MB sdram, AtiRadeonAIW7200, SBlive1024, and tons of software ... which makes formating a real pain!

I know, it sounds weird, but try to disable ffdshow completly

Start -> programs -> ffdshow -> configuration -> codecs -> disable all checkboxes

ok, tried that, didn't solve problem.
Even removing ffdshow completely doesn't help.
Did a reg-clean with Norton, removed some programs, etc...
Mplayerc still takes +/-1min. to load, which ain't normal.
Looking around the Soundforge-forum for 5hrs didn't teach me anything either...
Guess it's time for a format C:... :(
After +/-15 months of running a more or less "stable" Win98SE it's about time anyway i guess.

Problem solved...
Not 100% shure if this is the reason, but one of the last programs i uninstalled before formating was an old version of Norton anti-virus 5.02, after which mplayerc worked fine again...
Go figure!

Anyway, thks for the help.
