hi there sledge, when you first open the file does it have the black bars? or is it only when you fullscren the video?

if its when you fullscreen the video thats because the crop removes the black borders when you encode, but when you play it back your player will add those black bars to keep the aspect ratio right. most good players will let you stretch the picture if thats your wish to watch it without blackbars (look at media player classic).

i couldn't solve this by myself, so here is my problem:

i am trying to rip myself a backup of my german futurama DVD's.(about 300mb each ep to fit one season on 1 DVD) the problem i experience is, that the video source on the original DVD is rather bad, the top line is to ~1/2 black and in the lower right corner there is also a small black line. i don't know how to explain it so please look at the screenshots.

this occurs on almost all episodes, but and when encoded these black bars, even get bigger. (look screenshot #2)

However, i just reencoded some eps again (playing around and testing) and voilá, somehow these bars were gone. it seems autogk auto-crop funtion does not work always as good as it could be.
But this 'trick' does not work with all eps :(
is there a way to make cropping work always?

Hi Lop, what decoder and player you using to play these episodes?. might help the guru's if you post your log file from AutoGK also.

Setting threshold of autocrop to lower value than default 34 would help. But there is no generic settings that would work since you might crop lots of good material with lower settings for other sources.
