Is it possible to capture a still image from a vob file ?
I'm asking this because I would like to create my own insert disc 2 vob with an image from the movie I'm splitting.

Play it in any software player and do a screen capture.

With DVD2AVI you can save it as a bmp.
IIRC, this method is also inside mpeg2enc3.dll

Doesn't seem to work. After I close PowerDVD, the saved image is all black.

That option in the menu isn't enabled.
What else can be done ?

Capture on PowerDVD or WinDVD:
Do not use "print screen". Use the specific button on the player
DVD2AVI:
Use DVD2AVIdg110: decodefix110.zip

You can do it also with MenuEdit (registered version)
..or with DVDReMake (even with the demo version) or VirtualDub which allows you to apply filters in case you need to de-interlace for example.
