How to PNSR ?

Simple question, how do you PNSR for example something you encoded with XviD ? I tried finding some info on this but without any luck so far ! What do I need and how do I use it ?
I hope this is not a completle stupid question.

but note that things like psnr are far from being a good quality measuring tool

i for myself only trust my eyes as psnr already brought me results which were different to the ones my eyes brought me
for a visual comparison i always recommend avscompare (http://aquaplaning.20m.com/)

try downloading with a download manager (eg getright or a ftp client) someone meant that it works
