ofcourse it should mean in the poll
(features that were/are kept)
(features that weren't kept)

and the title of it should read

What were or will be the reasons for which you bought/will buy a DivX Certified Player

sorry for that would be nice if a Moderator could change that :)

1. Which of the things listed in the poll above were/are the most important
factors for you when you bought/if you'll buy a DivX Certified Player and why ?

2. What were your expectations from it, that in the end couldn't be
come up with or you think took to long to come up with ?

3. Would you like to see SetTop Box and Standalone Player solutions to be combined ?

3a. Would you like to be able to use MHP in such a combined solution ?

4. Would it be bad if it were smaller than your current Hardware Player ?

5. Is a little amount of Noise for example 20 dB acceptable for you
or would this change your purchase decision to another Solution that
has fewer features ?

5a. For which maximum acceptable price would you still buy such a
Next Generation Player/Box ?

6. Which features do you expect from such a
Next Generation Player/Box ?

7. If the Player/Box came up with your expectations, (at the time you
bought it) would you update it for a fair amount of money to
have more features ?

7a. Or would you try to update such a Player/Box (Hardware)
yourself and risk your waranty ?

8. Would you try to enhance the capabilities of such a Next
Generation Player/Box in a OpenSource Community based environment ?

Please take Part in the Discussion thx :)

a player i would consider buying would have to handle:
mpeg-4 asp@l5 + he-aac (including multichannel) + mp4 (including subs and chapters) + xcd

oh wait the upcoming kiss player will support all these things (only xcd is unsure) :D

Plus it's got to have an network port, so I can view movies, music and images stored on my server.

And a secondary 'hot-pluggable' remote control detector would be great to have too, just in case I wanted to hide the player inside a cupboard... that way it would not matter how ugly it is :D

Cheers

EDIT: I don't quite understand the thread title!

Hi All!

Here's my two cents:

My purchasing would be most influenced by this:

(1) Utter reliability

(2) Greatest range of playable formats

As of this posting it seems all the players I've purchased have so many bugs and "issues" they are not consumer friendly. The most annoying thing is when it stops playing a DVD/divx/xvid for some unknown reason? When I pop in a movie, I never know if it will play all the way through or if I'll need to remove it and put it into my dedicated media PC. BTW, this goes for all the players on the market.I've purchased and tested a NeuNeo, RJTech 1500, Philips DVP642 and a Yamada 6600. It seems the ESS based players are better. The folks at MediaTek haven't delivered on the many promises of the 1389xx chip. :D
