View Full Version : My chapters are out of sync?

First of all, I would like to mention that I have no
idea where a topic like this should go, and thus decided
that this newbie forum would be the best place. If this is
the wrong forum, please move this topic to its
appropriate place.

Ok, here is my problem. I use ChapterXtractor in order
to get chapter files from my DVD's, but they never seem
to sync up with my Gknot backup file. Usually, the
chapters occur a few seconds too early.

After a bit of fiddling around, I found something that
might be the problem. When I opened the IFO file with
ChapterXtractor, I noticed that the reported "Total
film length" is longer than the length of the Gknot
backup. This might be a problem because ChapterXtractor
uses time for its index.

At first, this seemed like the culprit. However, I soon
became a little doubtful. I realized that Vobsub also uses
time as its index, but I've never had any sync problems with
my subtitle streams. Audio is never a problem either.

I was wondering if anyone knows anything I could possibly do
to fix the timing of the chapters. Or will I have to fix
them all manually?

First of all, please don't use a colored font (at least that color is hard on my eyes). Make sure that the frames per second in chapter extractor matches your source. (ie, telecined at 23.976fps or captured at 30fps, etc). That is where your different reporting of time comes from also.
