Can IFOEdit change the default (?) sound output format??? Not the stream but the actual format(?)

I'll explain....

Using DVD recorder + AV Amp (Kenwood) watching normal TV (as source recording) tells the amp the sound is Dolby Prologic and I get simulated surround.

When playing back recordings on DVD the amp says theres a Dolby digital signal and switches to Dolby digital 5.1 but since there are only 2 channel I don't get any surround.

All I want to do it tell the amp to switch to prologic but have tried editing with IFOEdit sound settings/no of channels etc, on .ifo's but always get the same 2 channel result.

Is the number of channels encoded into the ac3 stream???

I don't want to have to de/re-mux everything I've recorded and I don't want to produce digital 5.1.

All I need is to get the same sound as when I recorded it.

Anyone any ideas.....

Number of channels and the Prologic flag (yes/no/not specified) are stored within AC-3 stream. Of course, you can't change it in IFO files.

You should check your recorder and receiver guides, maybe there is an option to force 2-channel audio. Perhaps it can record MP2 audio instead of AC-3. Otherwise you'll have to re-author.
