split dvd in 2

Hello there, I'm a newby as far as dvd backups are concerned.I had a dvd, 2 disc dual layed discs,I backed it up onto my harddrive using dvd decrypter and can watch it anytime using Nero 6 or even Power DVD,it does take up a lot of room so I want to burn the main part onto two dvd's. I have used ifoedit to split the data into Disc1 & 2,I used the default for the split which is ok. I tested them first using power dvd,the second disc works great,so I burnt it onto dvd, the menus work and when you put it in my standalone dvd player it autoplays on the first track,great. The first disc will not play using power dvd,it trys to but I get a black screen for a moment then it goes off.I tried to burn it anyway but I got a error message. I have even gone as far as deleting the data and re authoring it again with ifedit from scratch but I get the same problem. I have searched through the files to see if any files are missing, but what files am I looking for in specific, bear in mind I'm a begginer.

Thanks Iv'e looked through the guides but can't find the answer.I think the problem is something to do with menus,most annoying as I managed to burn the second disc with menu's working ok.I have had a mess around re copying files and managed to get it to play in power dvd but the menu's wouldn't work.I also managed to burn onto dvdrw but it won't work wxcept on my computer. I tried to do a get vts sector but it came up with a message that the video ts vob file was incorrect.Now my files show up as nero showtime files how do I get to find individual files as VOB etc.?. I am just wondering if the DVD Decrypter video files are incomplete or corrupt.Just to make sure I am working correctly I have succsessfully managed to backup another DVD9 to 2 dvd's with menu's working and everything,using DVD decrypter and IFO edit,no problems.

It's elementary if you use CloneDVD 2 (it has a trial period). Trim the chapters of the main movie starting from the end until you hit 100% quality, perhaps remove the extras. Make a DVD. Repeat the same cutting out the chapters that are on the first disc and keep the extras if you wish.
