I started a new job three weeks ago.

Last week, I was poking around the company directory, and guess whose name I saw?

Ben Rudiak-Gould!

It turns out he started an internship today, and he sits almost across from me. :)

And I suppose to settle my earlier question about how to pronounce AviSynth (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=69171), he pronounces it AWH-vee-synth.

I'm trying to convince him to stop by the doom9 forums...

Wow, that's pretty cool. If you get a chance, ask him what he thinks of the recent versions of avisynth, there's been a lot of progress in my opinion (does he still use avisynth in encoding projects? which version?). It would be great if he came by doom9 or even picked up on development again. Btw, I pronounce avisynth "a-vee-synth", pronouncing the first part like "navigate" (minus the n and the gate). Guess I'll have to change to the official pronunciation:) .

Cool, indeed! :)
Does he realize how many people appreciate his work!?!
And, interesting, is he continuing development of DVDSynth?

And, did you already drink coffee with him? If you do, send him our regards :)

Nope, I haven't drank coffee with him (I don't drink coffee :) ). I really haven't had much of a chance to talk to him yet.

He did say that he had worked on DVDSynth for a bit, so there's a newer version than what's already been released, but he's been sidetracked and hasn't touched DVDSynth or AviSynth in quite a while.

I'm not sure how much video processing he still does, but he indicated that he's been using AviSynth 1.0 and hasn't been keeping too much track of current AviSynth happenings. (He's aware of 2.0 and 2.5, though.)

Thank you for information!
I hope Ben will find time to work on DVDSynth someday.
I think it's unique program (external subtitles in different DVD players!).
Though I'm too dumb to use ssa2dvdsub converter.:(

Dear Ben,

If they do coax you into having a look at Doom9, thank you very much for releasing such a fine program for free. There must be some satisfaction in having come up with such a good idea at such a young age. Keep up the good work!
