What is the current official state of AC3 files created with FFMPEGGUI?
I have been making them and bringing them into ReelDVD and playing them at home on a Panasonic and a Sony DVD player with no issues.
I guess I am just wondering where there might be some trouble, so far so good as far as I am concerned!

I would also like to know how ffmpegGUI compares against commercial AC3 encoders nowadays. I'm especially concerned about standalone DVD player compatibility since the quality sounds good when played through AC3Filter. The version I have is Beta Build 3b (Oct 20, 2004) from VideoHelp.com (http://www.videohelp.com/tools.php?tool=434).
Another question, is it advisable to stick with 192kbps for 2/0 encodes? Or can I go all the way up to 448kbps without breaking any standards?

I'm assuming ffmpegGUI uses ac3enc. if so, then is compares extremely poorly against commercial encoders.
I used to use ac3enc, but as soon as I discovered Sonic Foundry Soft Encode there was no turning back.
You can encode 2/0 to 448 if you want, but 192 is the standard and is all you require IIRC.
