View Full Version : Trouble with ISO

I recently used DVD Decrypter to back up one of my DVD's.
In the ISO Read mode I confirmed that the disc had only 1 layer, I created an ISO file, and burned it successfully.
But on my second attempt, the next disc I wanted to back up had 2 layers, and based on what I have read in the FAQ's and Guides, I can not burn that disc to a single layer DVD-R without first reducing the data.
So I used DVD Shrink to re-author a new disc (this time with just the movie itself) and then I downloaded Image Tool Classic to try to create an ISO that I could burn to a DVD-R.
But when I run Image Tool and tell it where the source directory is (which has a VIDEO_TS folder with all the the VOB, BUP and other related files) the program gives me an error saying it "Can't find a 'VIDEO_TS' directory"
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for any help.

Just create a folder like "BACKUP" than create a subfolder "VIDEO_TS"(where all the VOB,IFO... files are)
and "AUDIO_TS" (not sure if you need it- but it takes no time) and point the "BACKUP" folder...
always works for me.

you shouldn't in theory, but in reality, it's different. there are a couple of standalones that do not accept the DVD if the AUDIO_TS is missing!
so for overall compatibility you should always add the AUDIO_TS
@Mike:
make sure the folder contains only the VIDEO_TS and the AUDIO_TS folder, all in capital letters... this should make it work.
you can also simply use Nero to burn your DVDs! no need to create ISOs then. Just create a new DVD Video project in Nero and then Drag&drop all your files into the VIDEO_TS folder of the newly created project and burn... works like a charm for me.

Thanks for the feedback.
Steve,
You were right. Once I put the files into the folders and properly labled them, Image Tool stopped giving me the error.
But once it started processing, it stopped at 91% complete and said there were errors (I saved the log file). Since I am now developing a flat spot on my forehead from slamming my face into my keyboard in frustration, I decided to download the demo of Nero.
I did as you suggested (and as it was stated in the guide) and opened a new project, I dragged all the VOB, IFO and BUP files into the project but I can't seem to get the "BURN" button to highlight (it's greyed out) - is this because it is the demo?
I tried doing the same thing using Nero Express with the same results.
Thanks again.

hmmm strange... it gets activated as soon as you drop any DVD compatible file into it... maybe your project is too big?!

No.

Steve,
I have a screen capture of my desktop, showing Nero with my project.
But I guess I can't post images. I would be happy to email it to you.
It shows the "Burns the current compilation" button is grey, and the files total about 4.5G (so they should fit on a 4.7G disc)
I would also like to post my log file, but I guess I can't post attachments. But I could email that too.

You can copy your logfile, then paste it into the "Reply" letterform here in this thread.

Here are the last few lines of the log file.
The hard drive that I was writing to has over 50G of free space.
So I don't know what it means when it says "no space left."

Check your HD => you have no space left, therefor imgTool can not finish the isFile.
If necessery delete some other files you dont need anymore.

looks like a FAT32 problem to me. (cant create files > 4GB)
go into the ImgTool settings and check the box to make it split the files into 1gb chunks.
