i recently purchased a dvd-burner, and i need to purchases more ritek g04, but the only way for me to get them is to go to the computer convention next to Fry's, but it cost $5 to get in & $5 to get out; can anybody tell me why Fry's doesn't carry ritek g04 dvd-r & Taiyo Yuden cd-r*? (maybe they do, it's a big store)
* i need those for hd-burn, cause my current cd-r isn't compliant

They may carry them under a different brand name (which could contain media from a different MFG the next week). Why don't you buy them online? All the big online vedors sell G04's (Rima.com, Supermediastore.com, Meritline.com, Newegg).

Order from Meritline. I get all my Ritek G04's from them and never had a problem. G04's are 69 cents each when you buy a spindle of 100 from Meritline.

i tend to stay away from online shopping (except ebay), cause while the prices maybe great, the shipping will usually make up the differences (on small order), but meritline is offerring free shipping on g04; is this for a limited time only?
can anybody recommend a site for Taiyo Yuden cd-r, i only need 50.

I'm not sure about Meritline (or supermediastore who has the same deal), but Newegg has offered free shipping on 50pk G04's for months at $40 a pop. EDIT: now $38.
Even when you factor in shipping you'll save over places like Best Buy, OfficeMax, and Staples, and you'll be sure to get the right media. I hear Fry's has great prices, but I'm east coast. Since your west coast you may be near a PC Club. They use to have Ritek's for $19.99 a 25pk, but there shipping was outrageous ($11/per pk) so it was only good if you had a local B&M store. I know that deal started last Nov. and has been off and on since then.
I don't know about the TYs. I switched to DVD-R just as Fujifilm stopped using TY exclusively, which was my main source of TY discs.

Did Meritline suddenly improve or something?? They've always been one of the worst online vendors..they'll do good for a while and then suddenly won't ship your product. Once that happens good luck finding someone there who speaks english properly and understands what you're talking about.
I get all my dvd-r's from rima.com they have been reliable for a while now and I never hear complaints about them.

NewEgg for the RitekG04's is the way to go. A sterling reputation and fast free shipping (as opposed to Meritlines slow ground). There have been way too many complaints about Meritline, while folks continually rave about NewEgg's great service and speedy delivery.

If u want great prices try w**.blankmedia.ca , for one you'll have the exchange rate in your favor, and secondly the posting fees are good (for Canada at least) and they have all the Ritek,Ridata Yden, and others.

69cent? I really hope you mean US-cent, because a 50'pcs spindle of Ricoh 8x DVD+R is 30 euro on amazon.de ...

www.supermediastore.com is a great place for DVD's. I got 100 of these. What a super deal. Came in two days. The discs are of extremely high quality. At less than 50 cents a piece, I have no idea why people are even discussing this topic anymore.
I'll keep watching until prices fall and then load up. I suspect everyone is starting to clear inventory of all 4/8x -+R media to gear up big time for the dual layer dics early next year.
btw - I buy branded Ridata G04 and G05 discs from newegg, rima, meritline, and supermedia. I've never been disappointed.
