Could Not Record To a DVD-R Disk

Today I tried burning a movie I made using DVD shrink and when I placed my DVD-R disk into my DVD burner it would not work but it did work with DVD + RW disks (I also have Nero 6 Ulta Installed) so I guess DVD Shrink works with Nero to do the burning process. However I got these DVD-R disk that wont work. Can someone help ?
