Phillips DVDRW1208

I just purchased my frinds computer a couple of days ago, which came with a Phillips DVDRW1208 dvd burner. The problem im having with it is, it seems to only want to record on DVD+RW, and not +R's. Is there any firmware i can download, or settings that i can change within the system to enable it to record on +R's

P.s. Im using Shrink 3.1, and Img burn tool 1.1.3 (which have worked fine on my other two systems for some time now.)

This drive is one of the first generation drives that will only burn +RW. It cannot burn +R. The technical specs are in this review (http://www.cdrlabs.com/reviews/index.php?reviewid=92&page=Features)

Thanks a million.......I was looking for a review like this one, but since the drive is older it was hard to find a good one with all the tech specs.
