RB Keeper is a tool which could be used in combination with DVD-RB and will do the following things:
- change the min/avg/max bitrate of every Project / TitleSet / VobID or segment.
- change progressive settings, gop structure & lenght, number of passes, bias, quant.char and matrix of every Project / TitleSet / VobID or segment.
- demux cells from the original dvd structure for keeping them without reencode
- change all or selected avs files (templates supported)

Not had the chance to try this out yet. It looks like a great little program to help those of us less adept in the ways of DVD dubbing to take even more advantange of jdobbs' godsend of a program DVD-RB. Thanks. :)

But I can't get this thing to work.
A guide or a tutorial would be nice.
Thanks

hi,
i've written an installation guide, you can get it at http://keeper.movie2digital.de/inst.php. the usage hints (0.4) should be useful, too.

Wow.. another nifty tool to use with DVD-RB, kewl :)
There are so many add-ons now that they should have their own subforum :D
I'm trying this out with Terminator 3. I'm doing a movie only backup with end credits & beginnnig studio logos cut out. Its very close to DVD5 at that point, so I wanted to front-load all the needed compression into the first 3 cells and keep the rest original.
I ran Prepare, then opened up the rebuilder.inf in RB-Keeper. I then set it up to "keep" all but the first three cells. There's no real instructions, so I wasn't entirely sure what to do next, so I hit "Create Videostreams" (which ran DVD Decryptor and produced about 10MB of .mv2 files in /working dir/TEMP/, followed by the message "step1 completed") and then "Prepare Reauthoring" which didn't seem to do anything at all besides popping up "step2 completed."
I then saved rebuilder.inf and ran the Encode stage, which seemed to work as I expected, encoding the first 3 cells. Then I ran the Rebuild step, which again seemed to go smoothly until it finished with the third cell, at which point it produced the message, "Error in UpdateIFO: Shouldn't happen - contact developer," followed by "stop statement encountered," and DVD-RB then closes.
I do get a .VOB of those 3 cells I wanted to encode in /working dir/VIDEO_TS/ as a result of the rebuild, but I need the rest of the movie.
Any idea where I'm going wrong here?
OK...I think I'll probably have better luck using a mounted ISO source. DVD Decrypter is apparently reading from my DVD drive, not my working source directory.

Sorry for the missing instructions, these must have been getting lost. But you can use the hints for version 0.2, the keeping-cells feature hasn't changed much since then. you can get it here: http://keeper.movie2digital.de/support.php
please tell me if it worked when using the iso image. Otherwise i have to fix that. One reason for the error could be, that the fourth m2v doesn't exist at all - so please check in your d2vavs dir if all m2v files are present.
Yep, it worked like a champ with the ISO, and I did eventually find those instructions, which helped. ;)
It ended up a bit oversized, though. It looks like it used the original reduction % for the 3 re-encoded cells, instead of compensating for what was kept from the original. I'm not sure if it was intended to do that or not. Perhaps I didn't save the .inf file at the appropriate point or something. I'm redoing it now with manual bitrate adjustments that should work fine.
Anyway, RB-Keeper will be very useful for situations like this, now that I know how it works. ;)

Can i use it with procoder instead of mencoder???
Amenophis
28th June 2004, 12:54
no, the procoder is not supported. maybe it's possible in the future (procoder has commandline support), but in the moment other features have a higher priority for me.

I can't get RB-Keeper to load a DVD-RB project. When I select the Rebuilder.inf file and click Open I get the following error:
Zugriffsverletzung bei Adresse 0040401E in Modul 'RB-Keeper-0-5-1.exe', Schreiben von Adresse 005E6D28.
When I click OK on the error, the L button can't be selected again. If I switch to another tab (or back to the information tab afterwards) I get this error:
Gleitkommadivision durch Null.
I'm using DVD-RB 0.54 and RB-Keeper 0.5
Edit: I should have mentioned I'm running it on XP Pro and I use CCE Basic.

@EddieTH:
please sent me your ecl and inf file which caused that error. You can use the bugreport form here -> http://keeper.movie2digital.de/bugreport.php

Done. Thanks for helping out! When I get it working I'm planning to add a section on RB-Keeper to the DVD-RB guide on Afterdawn. I'm quite impressed with the AVS editing interface. Very nice work!

With 0-5-1 i had the same error warnings, but the new build of 25062004 doesn't have any problems with the inf/ecl files. althrough i called it alpha because i added some new and not very well tested features, it seems to be realy stable and there should be no need for using an older build.
i assume it was because i had limited the number of (used) titlesets some time ago to ten, in the actual version imho 25 processed titlesets are allowed. so rb-keeper tried to write 'behind' the array and you got this access violation ("Zugriffsverletzung") and the additional division by zero errors.

Problem Solved - Thanks! :thanks: I hadn't considered the possibility that it was the unusually large number of titles.

RB Keeper 0.7:
# new features:
- all steps (avs editing, ecl/inf processing, demuxing) can be done without other steps
- new CCE options: bias, number of passes, matrix
- autosize: the bitrate of the selected item will be adjusted to keep the project size
# bug fixes:
- when changing progressive mode, scanning order will be changed too
- DVD-RB 0.55 INF files with a large number of VTS shouldn't result in a crash anymore
# improvements:
- the mencoder interface is no more bundled with the Keeper. Please use ECLmencode for that
- improved look of the GUI

I don't think that RBKeeper works with the DVD Rebuilder 0.62 or newer... but you can download it from www.dvdrebuilder.com
keep it UP

Just a question. Does this program do anything that RB-Opt doesnt do? just wondering if I should be taking a look at this app as an alternative to RB-Opt.

I never tested it and I can't check that where I am at the moment but you can download the help files and compare the description of both.
