Hi,

Well, usually Shrink outputs ~4 684 000 000 bytes DVDs. However when I look at the back of the burned disc, i see there's stil empty space at the rear of the disc, does that mean we can burn a bit more than 4.684k?

I'd like to use ALL the possible space on the disc.

Any comment?

Keep in mind few things:

1. DVD+R have a bit less capacity than DVD-R.

2. You can change the target size of the DVD Shrink output by setting it to a custom value in Preferences.

3. The greatest chance for the data to get corrupted during writing is on the outer edge of the disc.

You can search around for exact DVD+/-R capacity, it's been mentioned several times.

The info is in the DVD FAQ stickie in the DVD Burning subforum.

2. What is the capacity of a DVD disc?
DVD-R/W: 4,707,000,000 Bytes, i.e. 4,489 MB or 4,38 GB
DVD+R/W: 4,700,000,000 Bytes, i.e. 4483 MB.
DVD+R9 (somewhen available): 8,500,000,000 Bytes

Thanks! Sorry for i not reading the faq.

8,500,000,000 bytes seems less than a normal DVD9. Hope -9 has more space.

No, 8,500,000,000 bytes is correct for DVD-9. The second layer is smaller than the first.
