View Full Version : D2SRoBa and CCE settings?

I am new newbie at least for D2SRoBa but would like to know couple of things.
1. When using D2SRoBa, what are the correct/best settings that we need to use in CCE or do we have to tinker at all with CCE settings? In other words, when using D2SRoBa does it automatically set the correct/best settings in CCE or is there anything we manually need to do.
2. I have read posts about selecting the right template for right content depending on whether it is progressive or interlaced. Do we have to worry about selecting Progressive, Interlaced or Standard template in CCE when using D2SRoBa or does D2SRoBa automatically set this for you. I do have RoBa CCE templates installed on my computer.
I have used D2SRoBa once and I am amazed by its speed. I am thinking of dumbing TMPGEnc if I can sort couple of things particularly the stability part when using D2SRoBa and knowing what is going on when.
I would appreciate any feedback that you can provide me.
Thanks,
Kasauli

Hi,
D2SRoBa doesn't affect CCE settings other than enable OPV mode. So everything in D2S is still valid. In other words, bitrate, templates etc have to be set as you would if you didn't use D2SRoBa.

As bobwillis said, D2SRoBa depend on you setting the correct settings in D2S. The way to do that is to use the templates. I think we can give you some pointers to make it easy, but you would need to provide us the critical information. CCE what? DVD or SVCD? What mode in D2SRoBa do you prefer? And a lot of other stuff :)

Thanks for the quick reply bobwillis and DDogg.
Here is the relevant information:
D2S in DVD to SVCD mode
CCE SP 2.66.01.07
DVD2SVCD 1.2.2 Build 1
D2SRoBa 3.5
AutoFitCD and FitCD plugins installed (haven't used as yet)
I am trying to use D2SRoBa with its defaults right now and trying to use DVD2SVCD with its defaults. I am trying to make DVD to SVCD conversion. As I become mroe comfortable, I will try to tweak (of course taking pointers from you guys as I am not familiar with technical things used in D2SRoBa).
I hope I have provided enough info. I will look forward to your feedback.
Thanks,
Kasauli

Hi earthlybeings,
Regarding D2SRoBa settings, I use 2DVD, so I can't really help you there! I imagine the SVCD defaults are ok though.
I can at least help with the CCE settings.
As a starting point,
1. You have to use eclcce for the version of cce you've got. Download eclcce (CCE forum). Execute it, and find the ccespt.exe you are using.
In D2S,
2. Point the 'cinema craft encoder 2.5' option to your eclcce.exe file.
3. Since you are using RoBa, One pass VBR should be checked. Create vaf file should be checked; 'Calc bitrate as max' should be definitely unchecked.
4. Download the cce templates (again from the cce forum) and add them to the registry. Close dvd2svcd. Re-open DVD2SVCD (encoder tab), under advanced settings, check 'use CCE template'. Then in the pulldown dialog, select either progressive or interlaced (dependent upon your source material). More info on templates here: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=64800
5. Encoder tab. Leave field order at automatic & time code at all zeros.
6. A bias of 20 to 30 produces good results (this is only used if a VBR sizing pass is implemented).
7. Q Factor can be anything, since D2SRoBa's function is too find this for you!
8. Confirm 'Safemode' unchecked.
If you need anymore help, please ask, I'll do my best!
Unforunately, I can't assist with autofitcd or fitcd, since I don't use them. Leave them alone for the time being!
Best Regards,
Bob

Thank you so much bobwillis for your help. I guess things are beginning to clear a little bit now.
I think that perhaps an FAQ regarding this should be made a sticky post so as to help the newbie users such as me. Information is available in the forum but it is all scattered and you have to actually piece it together yourself on what is right and what is not although remarks by forum moderators and program creators can certainly be regarded as reliable but it is hard to make sense when they discussing a point, particularly when you are a newbie.
For example, in the D2SRoBa FAQ, the requirements stated are "DVD2SVCD 1.2.1b3 or later, the plugin itself and CCE 2.50 or 2.6x". It does NOT however mention anything about the CCE templates that are optimized to work with D2SRoBa. I found written somewhere else that if you do not use the templates, "the default filter settings in CCE 2.67 will make your encode one of poor quality." I think this is certainly confusing for the newbie. The templates should be listed as a requirmemt for using D2SRoBa everywhere.
I was using D2S previously which I might add is a superb and excellent piece of software. It does the work for you automatically no matter how new you are and produces the best results. I think that best settings are chosen for you by D2S everywhere including for the encoder. I presumed the same initially for D2SRoBa but now I stand corrected that it does not change any settings in the CCE.
Without rumbling too much, I would like to ask you one more question. Could you clarify a little bit more about which CCCE template to use and how to decide what type of source material is what. I am primarily making DVD to SVCD conversion.
I certainly appreciate your help in this regard.
Thanks to everybody else including of course the program creators, the moderators, doom9 and its owners, and all active and non-active participants who are making this all possible.

It does NOT however mention anything about the CCE templates that are optimized to work with D2SRoBa.Q9 of Part I (Background & Requirements) states the following:
Q. I’ve heard/read something about special CEE templates. Do I need them? How do I get them?
D2Sroba does not make (or need) any templates of its own. However, you are advised to use RB's CCE templates in DVD2SVCD whether you use D2Sroba or not. To get them (or make your own) see this thread. It has been there at least from Dec. 28. That's why I asked on my previous post if you had already read the FAQ.
As you can see, they are not required by D2Sroba, but for DVD2SVCD in general (for CCE versions for which they apply), and they are available upon request linked from the FAQ itself.
If you have any questions or suggestions, please just let us know. I'm always looking forward to improve the FAQ.
