I never seem to be able to use batch mode in order to make the two passes. Everytime I try to start the process, I get an error in both jobs. Am I doing something wrong?

i don't know if this is related to your problem, there are some problems with xvid and the 1.5.x vesions of vdm. try vanilla virual dub 1.4c and see if your problem persists.

getting an error is hardly a crash :)
if you do encodes manually does the error also occur?

anyway look in the directory of VDM for the file virtualdubmod.jobs, the error should be reported there (open it with notepad)
encoding in batch-mode with XviD (latest build) and VDM 1.5.10 works fine with me...

stephanV: yeah, you're right. My mistake.

kilg0r3: I'll try VDub v1.4c and report back. Thanks for the suggestion.

No luck here. I tried v1.4c, v1.4c ASF and VDubMod again (just to check) and batch mode just doesn't like me. Even setting up a single pass makes VDub give me an error message and abort the encode before it even starts. :(
