Since Gordian Knot 0.28.8 is out with DVD2AVIdg 1.10 I would like to know if I should update to DVD2AVIdg 1.30 beta 3 and MPEG2DEC3 (wich version?) in order to convert my DVB satellite captures to AVI/XVID

I just read the DVD2AVI FAQ but versions change so quickly that I'm feel lost...

Please help me :scared:

You'll need to consult the GK people. I don't know if they rely on a specific D2V file format. Also check whether DVD2AVIdg 1.3.0 is able to open the DVB streams. I can only vouch for ATSC transport streams at this time. If they do not work please let me know.

Always use paired versions of DVD2AVIdg and MPEG2DEC3dg. You'll know that they are paired because they are shipped in the same zip file. :p

I think yes.

@kikounet

I'm not up-to-date with the latest DVD2AVIdg but aint't there a compatibility mode, (old d2v format) I think I was reading this somewhere

1.76-style backward compatibility has been removed. Sorry, but I don't want to do incorrect seeking.

FYI - GK doesn't rely on d2v structure - any version of DVD2AVIdg can be used with GK (giving that you're using correct mpeg2dec3.dll).

P.S. AutoGK is a different story.

I tried using Gk last night with the latest DVD2Avi and mpeg2dec3 (ver. 1.3.0) and it gave me an error saying to "please select a valid .d2v project." I went back to ver. 1.1 and it worked fine.

Old projects are not valid anymore - you have to recreate them.
I have no problems working with 1.3.0 beta 5.

P.S. DVD2AVI folder should be replaced completely and mpeg2dec3dg.dll renamed to mpeg3dec3.dll in the root folder of GK. (just setting new name in settings will NOT work).

Stupid me, I forgot to put the mpegdec3dg.dll included with the latest DVD2Avi into the GKnot root directory. It works now. ;)
