Im interested in encoding some DVD's to Divx, I just need to know what programs I need to do this. And are there any guides to show me how to do this?

Stick this into Google: DVD2AVI guide

I've been thinking about writing one specifically for DVD2AVIdg/MPEG2DEC3dg.

For the basics, you need these:

* a ripper, e.g., SmartRipper
* a VOB decoding suite, e.g., DVD2AVIdg/MPEG2DEC3dg + Avisynth
* a deinterlacing/IVTC package, such as Decomb.
* an AVI transcoder, e.g., VirtualDub

This is purely a question at this point... Is it possible/practicle to incorporate Decomb directly into DVD2AVI? Just asking, not adding it to any lists.
