View Full Version : Should I resample or stretch audio?

When I capture video I suffer a very slight sync problem. I get around this by setting the audio stream as master and I end up with a file at 24.996fps and audio at48000. I use CCE to encode, which will happily accept video frame rates between 24.991 and 25.009 without complaining, but this obviously leads to the audio then being out of sync again. I usually stretch the audio to match using wavelab. I'm just curious to know if I would get a better quality result by keeping to 25fps (video master or via avisynth script - assume fps...) and then resampling the audio rather than stretching it?

it depends, most strecthing algorythms are not that good, but in your case it is such a small amount that most programs would still do a good job i think.
on the other end, if you resample the change in pitch would be so low that that wouldnt be noticable either.

just a matter of taste i guess :)
