How to convert 24fps to 120fps

I am trying to rip some animation DVD. However,if I use use decomb to convert 29fps to 24fps, the quality of the will decrease, I heard that converting to 120fps can fix this problem.


who could tell me how to convert 24fps to 120 fps?

don't know about upconverting the frame rate, but you can get double-rate IVTC using smartdecimate instead of decomb.

i tend to think 120fps may be a bit much. 60 (or 59.94) might be a good compromise, after all it's the speed you see it on the TV.

there's a few threads on the 120fps conversion. i've never had cause to do it myself.

You could take the easy way out an feed it through HiCon32.

Profile 20* - SDTV(us) 60Hz to 120Hz (720x480/60i to 720x480/120p)

* assuming NTSC

You can use MakeAVIS (from ffvfw) to get your avs script into HiCon32 as an avi. The conversion takes a considerable amount of time for what's being done, but you'll be able to see whether or not it's worth it in the future, or if it's something you save for those rare impossible sources.

I prefer to use YATTA for the pleasures of manual IVTC, but that's just my opinion.

Hmmm... am I the only person in the world with a setup that will NOT run SmartDecimate? :o

/me goes back to trying to get SmartDecimate to actually work again
