hey guys.. maybe u can englighten me on my problem.. ive been using dvd2svcd for a long time without any a/v sync problems.. until now..
im using dvd2svcd 1.2.2 build 1 using cce 2.5sp
im attempting to make a back up of The Last Samurai (tom cruise, ken watanabe)
now i already seem to know the problem but dont know how to go about and fixing it..
i ripped the DVD to my HD using file mode in DVD Decrypter.. this is my usual routine for ripping to HD..
now i know the a/v is out of sync because the beginning of the movie seems to have added the WB logo and the motion picture rating.. which usually comes in the beginning of the original dvd once u pop it in before the menu
now i tried ifoedit which i never used before.. and i just deleted those other titles.. and re-did the encode.. however same problem. it still comes up
dvd2svcd shows the movie length as 2:33.45 however wen its done it shows up as 2:34:51.. and the extra time is from that wb logo and rating screen that it added in the beginning.. which throws the audio off..
what hsoujld i do?

Can you mount the Original or ISO and then let D2S use its internal routines to rip? Until then, we can't even think about answering any questions as NO ripper other than the internal one is supported in the basics forum. We have all spent too much time chasing these things. Normally after days or weeks, it comes down to using another ripper, especially when in file mode. I use dvddecrypter to rip ISO's and then mount, but then I rerip from the ISO.
Pretty good movie I thought. How bout you?

thanks for the reply.. that is the problem.. i dont know how to mount the files.. its not an ISO.. but all the files in the dvd... im sure u know how that is.. i used dvddecrypter in file mode.. not read to iso.. how would i mount? i knew about ur suggesitons and using internal routines.. but the problem is how to mount the files.. since its not an ISO.
and yes the movie was good.. i watched it in the theatre wen it was released.. coming into watching it i thought it was going to be boring.. but it surprised me.. i give it a thumbs up no doubt..

You can point DVD2SVCD to the folder with the 'decrypted' files, and rip again using internal routines.

EuGeNiLe, thanks for reporting back to the thread. It helps "close the case".
I guess the moral of the story for anybody reading is sometimes you can use files ripped by other ripper successfully and sometimes not. When there is a problem, you need to always then use internal routines to verify if the problem will go away.

no problem.. thats why forums in general are a great deal of help.. but it's only as helpful as the replies people provide.. i know if i want help i must give back with feedback to further solve the problem.. :)
now that i think about it.. this was not the first time ive had this problem.. matrix revolutions also did this using dvd decrypter to rip in file mode.. added the studio logo and rating warning.. while the audio already started from there instead of the original mark.. making it out of sync.. i eventually gave up on that and used shrink and had to suffer quailty..
so for others having this problem.. yes.. if u are having sync problems.. check ur movie.. if it adds studio warning or something else of that nature that isnt with the main movie.. then use internal routines to rip in dvd2svcd.. it should solve the problem as it solved mine.

For the record:
In VTSs with more than one PGC you cannot use the VOB files as they are (unencrypted, but ripped in FILE mode), because in ripping phase is when the selected PGC is isolated from the others to be recoded. But in single PGC VTSs usually you can do it.
Ripping with a external ripper (Smartripper, dvddecripter, etc) usually works fine in single PGC mode (main movie only). I never had a problem although it is not recommended, mainly for minimize the supporting effort.
