DVDx on Linux?

Has anyone tried the open source DVDx software in Linux?

Not that I am aware of.

I was wondering if the _average_ Linux user know how to compile from source they can help me out as I have not had any success.

Perhaps it is a lost cause as DVDx requires things that are available in Windoze alone, such as DirectX.

Try it out under wine. I don't know if it works, you have to test for yourself. What does DVDx has that you cannot do with mencoder/transcode?

Are there any perl scripts for Linux which make combinations transcode/avidemux easier to use?
