View Full Version : Poor Quality Output - burning VCD's in Nero

I was making VCD's before with Nero6. With my New PC I upgraded and now I have Nero Vision Express 2, now everytime I try to make a vcd Nero transcodes it and then burns.

I am using TMPGEnc to output MPEG files and then burning them. Using the profiles of TMPGEnc to create standard MPEG files. In the earlier version it would burn the disc without transcoding. The transcoding is giving bad quality output and the already blocky video gets degraded further.. The picture's also blocky where lots of pixels appear every couple of seconds...

I know the MPEG output from TMPEGenc is a standard file because I have not made any changes to the profile.

Btw The content is PAL.
I tried the same with NTSC and the result was same... Nero Transcodes even though it shouldn't. Using the source to let Nero do the transcoding gives extremely poor results so I'd like to use TMEPEnc for the conversion to MPEG stream.

What should I do to make the VCD? Is there a way out in Nero to stop the default transcoding? Is there some other burning software I should use?

try vcdimager, vcdxbuild or vcdeasy to create iso images out of your mpg files. those can easily be burnt with nero then without any complications!

Thanks Steve.

VCD Imager worked for me:) It's pretty simple and fast.
The only gripe is I miss those menu's that Nero does...
Oh Well i guess you can't have everything...
