hi !

I use Nero 6 to burn my dvd-rs
and I need to know in which order
my files will be burned ...

Is it in the order as the appear
on the nero compilation list ?

I need to know which files will
be burnt near the outer edge of the disc...

The last time I tested that, Nero wrote the files in the order they were dragged into the compilation, and in case of folders that are dragged, the last (!) file was stored first.

Maybe you should use a better program. Files should be ordered alphabetically. What nero is doing is really strange

However, the only explanation why you might want to know the order is, in my opinion, that you are using crap media. Is that correct?

If you are really going to try to keep your "important" files away from the edge of the disk (ie: these are really important backups)...then I would suggest you use something like par2 to create recovery records for your files. That way even if some of the files get damaged you can usually recover them if you have enough undamaged ones.

I think the folders are in alphabetical order, and the root (if there are files in the root) is stored last.

You could try by renaming a large file to AAAAA.rar and put it in AAAAAA/ and another to BBBBB.rar in BBBBBBB/ etc and see in which order they're being written by reading the nero progress window.
