Using only DVD decrypter, can you rip and backup just the movie from DVD 9s to DVD 5s? Assume the movie is less than 2 hours long. I also seem to be having some problems copying to my hard drive in file mode. The picture seem to be jerky at times. I don't know if it's the media or the software.

DVD9 to DVD5 with dvddecrypter: no, sorry, but take a look at DVDshrink - it will probably be able to do what you want! (guide) (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/dvdshrink31-main.htm)

i wouldn't recommend ripping in file mode any more. either use iso mode for usage with apps like dvdshrink, dvd-rb (or alike) or ifo mode for dvd to divx/xvid conversations

generally you seem pretty new to ripping, perhaps these guides dvd basics (http://www.doom9.org/dvd-basics.htm) and in specific this one newbie guide (http://www.doom9.org/newbie_section.htm) will help you get a little more insight!!

cheers

I was ripping in file to copy dvd9s with Shrink 3.1. I dont know how to get Shrink to do its own ripping and was under the inpression that Decrypter provided Shrink with a better file for burning. Frequently the first file seems to be ok but the second one freezes so much that they are worthless.
PowerDVD also tells frequently that a burned disk is not in the drive or that the disk cannot be played because it is damaged. I use a Lites On burner. Have 512 of 2100ram and Windows XP.
