Hi

I have (finally) found a DVD-R that is read by my XBox (ie it does NOT say 'this is not an XBox games, DVD disc etc').

So I thought that I had finally cracked it, but now when I press play it says that I have a playback kit of the wrong region code. This confuses me as having used Roxio 6 to burn the disc from an avi file I expected it to be region free (or region 0).

The disc plays no problem on my friends PS2 (also locked to region 2).

I read somewhere that maybe I should change the book type to DVD-ROM. Is this relevant? How can I do this?

Otherwise I would really appreciate some help on this.

Thanks in advance.

Xboxes can have different DVD-Roms a philips a thomson or a Samsung drive, they are very picky with writable Media some times they are detected but cant be run so try a different media.

2.- You cant change DVD-Rs Book type

I think I have a Philips drive.

However I dont think that the type of media is the problem any more. I agree it was to start with. It took me ages to find discs that did not throw up disc error messages. But now they dont. They start to play and then I get the region error I described above.

Any further ideas? Thanks.

philips is the most picky drive sometimes it reads something and throws a lot of disc errors, have you tried the problematic Dvd in another Xbox???

same result in other XBox. As I say it doesnt seem to have any probs reading the disc (it has had problems with other discs so I recognise the noise).

Any other ideas?

Thanks.
